Comp Cards Order Form

Please fill out the form below to place your order.

Once I receive your order, I will put together a proof and e-mail it to you along with an invoice through PayPal. As soon as you have made payment and approved the proof, your cards will be printed and in the mail.

Notice that all of the fields in the “Info on Card” section are optional. Choose the measurements, stats, and contact information that you’d like included and leave the rest blank. If you want some other information that is not on the form, add that to the “Additional Information” text box.

I’ve included answers to some typical questions at the bottom of this page. Any other questions or special requests, feel free to e-mail me at brian@olinda-gibbons.com. Otherwise, fill out the form and let’s get these cards to press!

Short terms and conditions. By submitting this form, you acknowledge that you own the rights to reproduce the images used in this design. I claim no ownership over these images individually. However, I do retain the right to use the completed design (in physical or digital form) as a part of my portfolio and/or to promote my business.

Below are the available starting designs/styles. Choose the appropriate design on the form, and make any special requests under “Additional Instructions.”

Why does nothing happen when I submit this form?

Be patient. You’re uploading four to five images, and it may take a while. Your browser should show your progress on the status bar, if things are in order. If you’re working on a broadband connection, this process shouldn’t take more than 30 seconds to a minute, but a slower Internet connection could make it take longer.

If the form doesn’t go anywhere, e-mail me directly (brian@olinda-gibbons.com) and you can send me the files one at a time.

What resolution should my files be?

In order to create high quality print designs, you need high resolution photos. The exact resolution of the photo will depend on the amount of space it takes up.

As a general rule of thumb, you want your image to be around 300 dpi – dots per inch. Multiply the dimensions of the photo (in inches) by 300, and that’s how many pixels your image should be.

For example, a full page image (8.5″ x 5.5″) for your comp card should be approximately 2550 x 1650 pixels. Smaller images on the back of the card (~4″ x 3″) should be around 1200 x 900 pixels.

Why can’t I upload my images?

This form places some limits on uploads to the server, so if you are having trouble uploading your images it could be due to size limitations or because the file type is not supported. E-mail me directly (brian@olinda-gibbons.com) and I’ll arrange another way to deliver the image files.

How much is shipping?

The standard shipping cost is already included in your price. Two day and one day shipping are available at a premium. The surcharge depends on how many cards you order, so e-mail me (brian@olinda-gibbons.com) to find out, or simply state in the “Specific Instructions” part that you’re interested in expedited shipping.

Why didn’t you ask for my shipping address?

I’ll collect shipping information through PayPal when you checkout and pay for your invoice.

Why am I paying 7% sales tax…?

Sales tax and the Internet are touchy subjects. You might assume that you don’t have to pay sales tax on online purchases, because some retailers (i.e. Amazon) don’t charge you.

However, the law is fairly straight forward. My business operates in New Jersey, so if an order is delivered to a New Jersey address I am authorized and obligated to collect sales tax at the standard 7% rate. If the order is delivered to a non-New Jersey address, I am not authorized to collect that state’s sales tax so I do not charge tax.

I hate taxes as much as the next guy, but I don’t have much of a choice. Sorry.

What type of paper is used?

The cards are printed on 14 pt. cardstock with a glossy finish.

Do I have to pay through PayPal?

I find PayPal to be one of the safest ways to shop online. However I can also process credit cards over the phone. Specify this in the “Specific Instructions” section, and leave your phone number so that I can call you to review the proof and process your payment.

I am also experimenting with Google Checkout. If you have an account with Google and prefer to use that payment system, leave a note in the instructions and I’ll be happy to bill you that way.

Can I use a different background besides the yellow?

Sure! If you want a solid color (i.e. black, white) that is extremely simple. If you want a textured design (like the yellow, but with a different color), let me know what you’re looking for in the “Specific Instructions” section and I’ll work something up. If you already have a texture image that you’d like to use as a background, e-mail it to me (brian@olinda-gibbons.com) after you submit your form.

What do I get with the “digital files only” option?

With the “digital files only” option, you get a set of digital files that you can use to share your comp card online or that you can get printed yourself. This includes:

  • Low resolution jpeg image (like the preview above). Perfect for posting to Facebook or other social networking sites.
  • High resolution jpeg images. These will be 8.5″ x 5.5″, and you can submit these to some printers.
  • Print-ready PDF files. This will include a “bleed” around the edge, which is essential for printers to be able to print your card without a border. This adds 1/8th of an inch to each side of the image, so the final dimensions will be 8.75″ x 5.75″ (instead of 8.5″ x 5.5″). This is the standard format for submitting your project to a legitimate printer.

If you want a different file format (i.e. TIFF, PSD) or a slightly different size (some printers create a slightly different card) include those specifications in the “Additional Instructions.” For the most part, there will be no extra charge. If you have an excessive amount of special requests, though, I reserve the right to send you a revised invoice.

Why is there a big “DRAFT” stamp on my proof?

Because… it’s a draft. Don’t worry, you’re printed cards will not have the “DRAFT” stamp on them. If you ordered the digital files, the final copies will not have “DRAFT” on them either. Once you have paid your invoice, you’ll receive the final product (either printed or digitally) without a draft stamp.
